It’s been a while since our last newsletter went out so I thought I would take the opportunity to share a few updates with you.First, I want to recognize Abby Gordon and Jordana Turetsky for all of the hard work they put into preparing for their Bat Mitzvah services in May. In addition to learning their Torah portions, Haftarah readings, and writing their d’vrei torah, they raised about $1,000 and collected more than 50 sets of sheets for the Bed for Every Child Initiative. If you would like to contribute it’s not too late. You can bring financial contributions or new sets of sheets (twin size) to services on June 16th or contact me to make other arrangements between now and then.
I would also like to offer a special thanks to our newly reconstituted publicity committee, which has been meeting over the past few months. Their immediate focus is refreshing our website design and content in preparation for improving our social media presence later this summer. If you have related expertise that you would like to contribute, please let me know.
Finally, I’m pleased to report that the carpenter is making good progress on building our new bimah and we expect to be enjoying it at our High Holiday services this fall. Thanks to all of those who contributed to our “bimah fund” over the past year or so and to Alan Lovitz for his work to facilitate the construction process. Next up for improvement . . . the Ark.
