I hope that everyone has enjoyed the first half of summer. As we enter August the Sha’arei Shalom board and committees are starting to prepare for the year ahead – particularly the opening of school in September and High Holidays in October.

As a small, member-driven congregation we are dependent upon volunteers to keep things running. I ask that each of you make an effort to become engaged at some level this year. There are many ways to get involved, including:

• Joining the school committee, which organizes holiday celebrations and handles important logistics for our religious school
• Helping set up and breakdown for our High Holiday services at the Federated Church
• Organizing social events to bring members together and help strengthen our community
• Introducing Jewish friends and neighbors to our congregation and religious school
• Helping to manage our social media presence
• Joining the Board of Directors to set policy and guide the congregation

If you are interested in any of these activities or have other ideas for supporting the congregation, let’s talk.
